The process consisted of two stages namely GD and PI.

Group Discussion:

Moderators gave two topics to choose from, in some cases students were required to read the topics aloud and in some they had to write the same on the board.

Topics were chosen from different fields like social, economical, political, cultural etc. The number of moderators in all the GDs was 3. 3-4 minutes were provided to students to think on the topic and then they were asked to start the discussion. 10–15 minutes were given for the discussion and in cases where fish market was happening the moderator generally interfered and stopped the GD. He would then ask everyone to summarise or conclude the GD. The sitting pattern was a rectangular U. Number of students was 13.

2. Should India send troops to Iraq?
3. Is the ban on outsourcing unfair?
4. Are beauty pageants good for India?
5. Is coalition government here to stay?
6. Marking System v/s Grading system in school
7. General Election 2004: Who will be the winner?
8. Borderless World: Dream or Reality?
9. Is philosophy just an armchair theory?
10. Should graduation be made compulsory for entering parliament?
11. India's huge population: Asset or Liability?  

Personal Interview:

For most of students the same panel conducted both GD and PI. Number of panelists was 3. The PIs generally lasted 10 – 15 min. Most of the students were questioned on academics, politics, and geography.
