The process consisted of two stages namely
GD and PI.
Group Discussion:
A predefined group of 10-12 students was made to sit for the GD. Instead of giving the group a one-line topic the moderators gave them an article to read. The articles, in most of the cases, were based on current affairs. The group was given 2 minutes to read the article and then 10 minutes to discuss the issue. Towards the end, the moderators gave the group one minute to conclude the discussion. Then the students were given 5 minutes to write the entire summary of the discussion. The sitting arrangement was semicircular. The number of moderators was 2.
Sample GD Topics:
Article on USA war on Iraq
Article on Columbia shuttle crash
Personal Interview:
The panelists for both GD and PI were same. The students were cross-questioned on the entries they had made during the discussion. In general stress was created during the PI. The PI lasted for around 15-25 minutes. The candidates were given an opportunity to ask questions to the panel.
Sample PI Questions:
- Candidates with work experience were quizzed on the same. Questions on the department the person was working in, the job profile, growth prospects etc.
- Comment on the local political situation of the candidate's home state.
