The selection procedure consisted of two stages:

           Stage 1: GD

           Stage 2: PI

Group Discussion

A predefined group of 12 students was made to sit for the Group Discussion that lasted for about 20 minutes. Each group was given two GD topics, out of which they had to select one. Most of the topics given were based on Current Affairs. Thus students must be ready with the latest issues in the news. Before the start of the GD the students were informed what parameters would they be evaluated on. In general most of the GDs did turn to into a fish market. The number of moderators in all the GDs was 2. 1-3 minutes were provided to students to think on the topic and then they were asked to start the discussion. The sitting pattern was either semi-circular or C-shaped. The group was provided with paper to jot down essential points. In some cases, the moderators collected the papers for further evaluation.

GD Topics:

  1. Politicians are not interested in the future of our country.
  2. India Shining
  3. Wisdom does not come with age
  4. Corruption is the main outcome of democracy.
  5. Fee reduction in IIM is not justified.

Personal Interview:

NMIMS had two different panels for GD and PI. The number of panelists was 2 and the PIs generally lasted 8 – 15 min. Most of the students were questioned on academics, personal questions and general awareness. The interviewers did not try to stress the candidates. But the candidates were cross-questioned on their own responses. The focus of PI was more on personal questions about the candidates. It seemed that the interviewers were looking for a well-informed person having clarity of aims and objectives.
